LAPLAND - The Far North in the Polar Light Sea

For centuries the auroras (also called northern lights) have fascinated people. In particular, their magical appearance illuminates the long, dark season of the high latitudes. Fortunately, northern Scandinavia is located in this northern light zone. March and October are the best time to travel to experience this natural spectacle. Our journey begins in Lapland with various possible winter experiences. The Inari Lake and the Pasvik Valley on the Russian border await us with husky, reindeer or snowmobile safaris. The Scandinavian sauna should not be forgotten either. You can also expect laser-assisted tours of the northern starry sky, lectures on the topic of the aurora borealis, interesting demonstrations with a stately small planetarium and various sun observations. But there will also be no lack of regional history with various possible winter experiences.

Flights possible from various airports (Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Zurich) via Helsinki to Ivalo on Lake Inari in northern Finland. Transfer from Ivalo airport to Inari, 68.9 ° N. In order to enable undisturbed observations of the aurora borealis, the hotels chosen in Lapland are as far away from the disturbing city lights as possible. From the first evening we can expect auroras when the sky is clear.
Hotel Inarin, 5 nights with half board

The accommodation / lodge Laugarbakki is one of the most famous Reirerhöfe in Iceland. Today we are allowed to take part in a horse demonstration at the nearby Gauksmyriequestrian center and visit the stables. Then we pay a visit to the Vatnsnes peninsula. You can see a seal colony at the famous elephant-shaped rock Hvitserkur. We get even closer to the marine mammals at a farm on the other side of the peninsula. Finally we make a stop in the village of Hvammstangi. There you have, among other things, the opportunity to buy typical wool products directly from a manufactorer.

With several short stops we drive to Reykjavik after breakfast, free time and transfer to the hotel.

In the morning transfer to the airport and flight back to Germany

In contrast to the RRV, all of these insurances can be taken out immediately before the start of the journey. We would be happy to book your desired insurance for you.
Our group tours are carefully planned so that you are almost certain to see the Northern Lights. But: Northern lights are a natural phenomenon. While there is a very good chance that you will see the Northern Lights during your trip, we do not guarantee that you will see them. Photos or animations created from them usually have too much colour saturation and therefore do not correspond to the visual appearance of auroras.
In Lapland there is predominantly sunny weather in a snowy winter landscape with dry and therefore not perceived cold. On the Norwegian coast, the further south we go, the temperature and humidity rise due to the Gulf Stream. A wintry landscape can be expected all the way down to Trondheim.
