Our trip to Mongolia is a special expedition in the footsteps of the nomads. It consists of off-road vehicle tours through the fantastic landscapes of Mongolia in the Altai Mountains and the Gobi Desert. Since long distances have to be bridged in Mongolia, three other domestic flights are on the programme in addition to the international flight via Moscow to Ulan Bator. In Ulan Bator we visit the famous Bogd Khan Palace, the Natural History Museum and the Gandan Monastery. After a flight to Khovd with the goal of the Gurwan Cave with stone age drawings, another highlight of the trip will be a visit to the larynx singers (Chandmani Sum) in Manchan. The off-road vehicle tour continues through the great Altai Mountains to the Gobi Sharga with its impressive Gobi landscape. On this tour you will sleep in tents. A domestic flight via Ulan Bator takes you to Dalanzangad in southern Mongolia. Our second off-road vehicle tour into the Gobi desert begins there. Here we experience the unique Hongorin Els desert landscape, the Saxaul Forest and the Bearded Vulture Gorge, as well as the world-famous Erdene Dzuu monastery in the former capital of Genghis Khan. On this tour you will spend the night in traditional Mongolian yurts. We end the adventure trip with a farewell dinner in Ulan Bator. During our tour with an off-road vehicle, we will be guided by a local Mongolian tour guide and a German travel companion. Luggage, tents and food are transported in our off-road vehicles. We set up our tent camp in the beautiful mountain landscape on the banks of crystal clear rivers or streams. This type of overnight stay is unique and typical of the country. On our trip we get to know the people of Mongolia in their typical round tents, the yurts and learn a lot about their life, customs and traditions.

Reception at Berlin Airport by our tour guide. Midday departure to Ulan Bator with a stopover in Moscow.

In the afternoon a city tour takes us to the famous Gandan monastery, which is one of the major Buddhist centres in Mongolia. A dinosaur exhibition with exhibits from the Gobi desert awaits us in the capital’s natural history museum. A visit to the folk ensemble is planned for the evening.

We recommend that you take travel cancellation insurance (RRV). This should be completed immediately after booking. We strongly recommend that you take international health and ambulance insurance, ideally as a complete insurance that also includes, for example, travel accident, luggage and travel liability insurance. In contrast to the RRV, all of these insurances can be taken out immediately before the start of the journey. We would be happy to book your desired insurance for you.
Most of the roads in Mongolia are slopes and only accessible with OFF Road vehicles. Asphalt roads can only be found in the immediate vicinity of Ulan Bator. The slopes challenge people and equipment. Every travel participant should be prepared for the fact that the distances on the slopes are covered much more slowly than we are used to in Germany.
This trip is the right place for everyone who would like to get to know the country and its people in small groups with a lot of initiative. A supporting programme is offered, but there is enough space for independent activities. An experienced English travel companion and helper in many situations is on this trip and gives interesting tips and suggestions for your own activities.
The most important prerequisites for the success of our trip are team spirit, tolerance, the willingness to improvise and a good dose of humour. On the way we will often try to bring the travel wishes and ideas of the participants under “one hat”, which requires commitment and consideration from everyone.
An empirical value for the amount of luggage can best be expressed using the weight. 14-16 kg is a good guideline. We recommend only taking small travel bags and backpacks without a carrying frame (made of hard-wearing and robust material) with you. Please do without suitcases! A small daypack is required for hiking. It is necessary to bring an insulating mat and sleeping bag with you.
Extreme continental climate. Dry, cold winters and short warm to hot summers. The number of sunny days per year is 220-260 days. The months of July and August are often the months with short but heavy rain showers. During our 15-day trip, there can be an average of 1-2 short rain showers. It can then happen that the slopes sink into the mud and traveling becomes a real adventure. During these months it gets very warm during the day (30 – 35 degrees), at night it often cools down extremely (0 to -5 degrees).

● We reserve the right to change the schedule of excursions, sightseeing and observation programmes – even at short notice due to natural events such as volcanic activity.
● The tour can be cancelled by the tour operator, if the minimum number of participants is not met. In this case, Wittmann Travel e.K. can withdraw from the contract 28 days before the start of the journey. As a rule, however, we inform all participants earlier.

Balance payment is to be made 28 days prior to departure.
