SHIV NIWAS PALACE - INDIA, UDAIPUR, RAJASTAN

HOTEL PACKAGE - INDIVIDUAL

INTRODUCTION

Udaipur – Owing to the presence of the Pichola, the Udai Sagar, and the Swaroop Sagar — among the most beautiful lakes in the state of Rajasthan – Udaipur is endearingly referred to as the City of Lakes. The majestic palaces of Udaipur are fine examples of superlative architectural skills. It therefore comes as no surprise that it is one of the foremost tourist destinations of the country and frequented by many. The historic town with its meandering lanes offers a wide variety of historic and cultural experiences to the visitor with its exquisite havelis, temples, ghats, baoris and gardens such as the famous Saheliyon ki Bari and Gulab Bagh. The crescent-shaped palace was built in the early 20th century, in the reign of Maharana Fateh Singh (period of reign: 1884-1930), and has been meticulously maintained and preserved for guests like you. Shiv Niwas Palace was reserved exclusively for visiting dignitaries and guests of the House of Mewar. Today it is a Grand Heritage Palace for guests, combining the elegance of the last century with modern 21st century amenities. The distinctive character of Shiv Niwas Palace contributes substantially to the success of events of all types. Events benefit from a unique combination of history, luxury, impressive architecture, personalised service and the finest cuisine.

ACTIVITIES

There are an array of activities, which the guests can enjoy at Shiv Niwas Palace like The Ayurvedic treatments and walking trails.

We are furnishing below the details of the activities:

Udaipur’s The City Palace Museum comprises the Mardana Mahal (palace for the royal men) and The Zenana Mahal (palace for the royal ladies). Since 1969 these two palaces have been preserved and developed as The City Palace Museum, which is open to the general public. The Museum is in fact a series of palaces, built from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries, spatially divided into royal private areas and public zones. Each of the palaces represents unique architectural styles and materials. Rare murals on the walls and ceilings, glass inlay work, original paintings and artefacts are spread over 20,000 square metres. Weaponry, armaments and personal belongings of the rulers are on display in their original places.

The world’s single largest private collection of crystal under one roof Housed in the Fateh Prakash Palace is the world-famous Crystal Gallery; it’s spread across the upper-gallery of the glittering The Durbar Hall Sabhagaar. Crystal Gallery has been hailed as probably the single largest private collection of crystal anywhere in the world. The visitors here are privy to one of the most exclusive and exquisite crystal collections. It was in 1877 that Maharana Sajjan Singh (period of reign: 1874-1884) ordered the crystal collection from the Birmingham-based F&C Osler company. The collection includes a bewildering number of objects d’art, dinner sets, perfume bottles, decanters, glasses, washing bowls and even furniture. The Crystal Gallery also houses the only crystal bed in the world! The collection has been customised for the House of Mewar; the Crest of Mewar being delicately etched on the crystal, adding yet another amazing facet.
On 15th February 2000, The Vintage & Classic Car Collection, The Palace Udaipur was unveiled in its entirety to the general public. This inauguration allowed visitors to appreciate this astonishing collection of cars for the first time. The Vintage & Classic Car Collection is a car collection and a museum with a difference. All the vehicles on show have belonged to the Maharanas of Mewar both past and present. Despite some vehicles being over seventy years old, each one has been painstakingly restored so that they are in working order. The collection is housed in the original former Mewar State Motor Garage, a glorious setting for such a fine assortment of vehicles.
An exhibition at the palace on an island in Lake Pichola Jagriti is a ‘heritage exhibition onsite’ at Jagmandir Island Palace, the island palace on Lake Pichola. It is a manifestation of the multilayered research undertaken in 2001-02. Rare paintings, old photographs, maps and contemporary architectural drawings have been brought together to facilitate the understanding of how Jagmandir Island Palace evolved from the 17th century onwards and continues to grow in the 21st century. The posters in the inner chamber were created from old photographs of Jagmandir Island Palace and Gol Mahal, retrieved from old albums in the Maharana Mewar Special Library.
Built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh, this Indoarmy temple is the largest and the most beautiful temple if Udaipur with noteworthy sculpted images.
This 14th century lake that was extended to create the city of Udaipur in the 16th century. With backdrop of the Aravalli ranges on the west, historic palaces along the lakefront in the east and island palaces as jewels in the Lake Pichola, it provides one of the most picturesque settings in the world.
A beautiful lake, overlooked by a number of hills on the three sides and the Pratap memorial on the north was built by Maharana Fateh Singh. In the middle of the lake is Nehru Park a lovely garden island with a boar shaped café accessible by an enjoyable boat ride.
This small Mughal ornamental garden was a leisure place where royal ladies came for a stroll. Hence the name. The garden has many fountains in its four delightful pools chiseled kiosks and marble elephants.
