Tunisia is only a two-hour flight from Germany, two hours that take the traveler into a completely different, alien world. The diverse travel destination Tunisia offers more than just a pleasantly sunny climate, miles of pristine sandy beaches and hospitable residents. Carthaginians, Greeks, Romans, Vandals, Byzantines and Arabs have left their mark on this land. From Djerba we travel via Tatouine to Douz, the gateway to the Sahara, where the endless desert air can be sniffed on a camel ride. On this trip in Matmata and Tatouine we get an insight into the old Berber culture. Archaeology enthusiasts will get their money’s worth with a visit to Sbeitla, Kerkouane and Carthage on this trip. In Tunis, the world-famous Bardo Museum is on the programme with impressive mosaics from Roman culture. A highlight is the trip on the historic Lezard Rouge railway through picturesque gorges from Metlaui. Kairouan, the religious heart of the country and one of the four most important pilgrimage sites of Islam, should not be missing in the programme. There are 3 nights in Hammamet specially arranged for this trip, so that sun, beach and sea are not neglected. The accommodations are in good, typical 4 * / 5 * hotelsTime difference: CET (UT + 1) (in Germany and Austria CEST)
