You should follow the same precautionary rules as when staying in other countries that are heavily frequented by tourists.
The latest information on the security and health situation can always be found on the website of the Federal Foreign Office.

There is no visa requirement for Germans, Austrians and Swiss. The passport must only be valid for six months beyond the return date. Children need their own passport with a photo. Embassies of the Republic of Namibia in Germany and Austria provide further information on entry requirements.
Current vaccination regulations on Covid 19 can be found on the website of the Federal Foreign Office. As things stand, no further vaccinations are necessary. Exception: if you are entering from a country at risk of yellow fever. Only malaria prophylaxis is recommended for the north of the country, especially during the rainy season. Prophylaxis can be bought over the counter in Namibia. Pharmacies in Namibia, your family doctor or tropical institute can also advise.
During European summer time, it is one hour earlier in Namibia. During European winter time, it is one hour later in Namibia. In Namibia the clock is changed on the first Saturday night in April and on the first Saturday night in September.
The country‘s currency st he Namibian Dollar (N $). Since the N $ is currently only available from a few banks in Europe, you can also buy the South African Rand (ZAR), as this is recognized as the equivalent currency in Namibia.
Due to the low rainfall, Namibia usually has a very dry climate. The temperatures fluctuate in summer (October to April) between 18 degrees and 35 degrees C and in winter (May to September) between 0 degrees and 25 degrees C. As a rule, the coast has a mild, but humid climate and you always have to expect fog.
We recommend light-coloured clothing and mosquito repellent. Light cotton clothing and sturdy footwear in the area are recommended. Mornings and evenings can be very cool, especially in winter, and temperatures can fluctuate widely. Therefore, it is said: put on and take off according to the onion principle. A warm jacket is also part of your luggage in summer. In general, the dress code is quite casual.
English has been the official language since 1990. 80% of the population speak Oshiwambo, Otjiherero or other African languages. A lot of Afrikaans and German are also spoken.
The power grid is designed for 220/240 volts alternating current. In Namibia three-pin plugs are used, the corresponding adapter plugs can be bought in every major supermarket in the country.
The area code for long-distance calls from Germany to Namibia is 00264, if you want to call from Namibia to Germany, you have to dial the area code 0049. You can make international calls through the international operator. Emergency numbers: or the police, dial 10111, emergency calls and fire brigade 211111.
